As the face behind our brand and the avid uploader to Instagram, it's always nice for you to know a little bit more about the maker.
I'm Fiona, a twenty something tea drinker from North Yorkshire, mum to Wilf and a lover of our great outdoors! I have a passion for minimalistic, clean and delicate design.
My business idea for Plewsy had been on the back burner for quite a while having alway enjoyed creativity and illustration, I just needed to figure out a rounded plan and gather some business knowledge before I had the confidence to launch. After graduating from Teesside University with a Graphic Design degree, I worked in a branding and marketing agency. This enabled me to learn many digital skills, working on live branding projects alongside gaining an in depth knowledge of the print world.
I left here for a role at TOAST, alongside which I began to bring the brand Plewsy to life! In 2015 we exhibited at our first trade show where we added to our customer base quite considerably. Many of the orders we received from the show remain valued customers today. Fast forward three years to 2018, here we are closely approaching our third business birthday!
It feels like a huge personal achievement to have successfully managed a business for three whole years. It's certainly not been an easy ride, one of the steepest of learning curves was realising how hard it is to run a business and have a newborn! That said, we are still here and prepping for our next trade show in a few weeks time. (Join us at Pulse, Stand F31)
Another area of the business I am super proud of is our work with The Princes Trust. I offer inspirational talks to young people. I'm an avid believer that there should be someone shouting your corner, giving you that confidence boost you quite often need (I know I sure did) - so it is a great privilege to inspire other entrepreneurs to (cliche coming up...) follow their dreams and launch their own business idea! This alongside our branding service and wedding stationery work certainly keeps us busy in the studio.
It's been lovely saying hello!
